Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Hughes FleetGuard Compliance

About Hughes FleetGuard Compliance

Are you really the ONLY service for restricted operators?
Yes. We're the UK's only compliance monitoring service that exclusively serves restricted O-License operators with 1-10 vehicles. Other services may also work with restricted operators, but they primarily focus on larger fleets or standard licence holders. We built our entire service specifically for 1-10 vehicle restricted operations - and we don't serve anyone else. You're not an afterthought; you're our ideal client. We provide monitoring and professional review, not operational control.
What exactly is Hughes FleetGuard Compliance?
We're an early-warning compliance monitoring service specifically for restricted O-License operators with 1-10 vehicles. We combine technology with CPC-qualified transport professionals to give you professional insight at an affordable price. Think of us as your compliance monitoring & assurance system - we monitor compliance signals, flag risks early, and provide professional review while you remain fully in control.
Are you a Transport Manager service?
No. We do not act as Transport Managers and we do not take operational control of your compliance. We provide monitoring, analysis, early-warning alerts, and professional review. Our CPC-qualified transport professionals analyze your compliance data and flag risks - but you remain fully responsible for all compliance decisions and actions. As a restricted operator, you need active management with professional support, not delegation of control - and that's exactly what we provide.
Are you a software platform or do you have real transport professionals?
Both - but professional review first. We use technology to automate routine monitoring (expiry alerts, daily checks, document storage), but CPC-qualified transport professionals review all the data and flag risks. You're not trusting software algorithms to make compliance decisions - you're getting real professionals who understand DVSA requirements providing insight and recommendations.
Why not just hire a full-time Transport Manager?
For 1-10 vehicles on a restricted licence, a full-time TM at £40,000-60,000 per year is overkill - and restricted operators legally maintain their own compliance anyway. You'd be paying for 40 hours a week when you need professional monitoring and review, not full-time operational control. Our model gives you CPC-qualified professional insight when you actually need it, at a price that makes sense for smaller operations.
How are you different from traditional external Transport Managers?
Three key differences: We only serve restricted operators (so you're not competing with 100-vehicle fleets for attention), we use technology to keep costs down (£249-599/month vs £600-1,600/month), and we're transparent about pricing (no "call for quote" nonsense).

How It Works

How quickly can I get started?
Most clients are fully onboarded within 24-48 hours. We have a quick 15-minute call to understand your operation, connect to your systems, and you're protected. For emergency rescue packages, we can start the audit same-day.
What information do you need from me?
Basic details about your vehicles (registration numbers, MOT/tax expiry dates), your O-License information, driver details, and access to any existing compliance records. We'll walk you through everything on the onboarding call.
Do I need to change how I currently operate?
Minimal changes. We integrate with your existing processes rather than forcing you into new systems. You'll use digital daily walkaround checks instead of paper (much easier), and we'll provide templates for any missing documentation. Most clients find we simplify their operations.
What happens if DVSA shows up?
Call us immediately. Premium clients get DVSA encounter support included; others can access it for £395. We'll guide you through the encounter, help you respond properly, and protect your license. Same-day consultation available for emergency situations.

Pricing & Packages

How much do I actually save compared to other options?
The savings are substantial. External Transport Manager services charge £600-1,600/month (£7,200-19,200/year) - but restricted operators don't need External TMs. A full-time TM salary is £40,000-60,000/year plus benefits and overheads. Hughes FleetGuard costs £249-599/month (£2,988-7,188/year). You save thousands per year while getting CPC-qualified professional review of your compliance data. We're the only service offering transport-professional expertise at these price points because we built our entire model around serving 1-10 vehicle restricted operators efficiently.
Which package is right for me?
Starter (£249/month) works for 1-2 vehicles with straightforward operations. Professional (£399/month) is our most popular - ideal for 3-5 vehicles needing monthly TM reviews and quarterly audits. Premium (£599/month) is for 6-10 vehicles wanting weekly monitoring and a dedicated TM. Not sure? Email us and we'll recommend the best fit.
Are there any hidden fees or setup costs?
No. The price you see is what you pay. No setup fees, no surprise charges, no "extras." If you need our emergency rescue package or DVSA encounter support, those are clearly priced separately. We believe in transparent pricing.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, we work on rolling monthly contracts. If you're not happy, you can cancel with 30 days notice. No long-term commitments, no cancellation fees. We keep clients by being excellent, not by locking them in.
What if I'm already in trouble with DVSA?
Our Compliance Rescue Package (£495 one-time) is designed exactly for this. We'll audit everything in 48 hours, create all missing documentation, organize your records, and get you DVSA-ready in 7 days. Then you can move to ongoing monitoring to stay compliant.

DVSA & Compliance

What happens if I get a prohibition?
Contact us immediately - prohibitions trigger DVSA scrutiny of your entire operation. We'll help you respond appropriately, document what happened, implement corrective actions, and demonstrate to DVSA that you take compliance seriously. Premium clients get this support included.
Will this protect me from a public inquiry?
We significantly reduce your risk by catching issues before they become DVSA problems. If a public inquiry does happen, we'll support you through it and help present your case professionally. Our clients stay compliant because we're monitoring continuously, not reacting after DVSA finds problems.
What does DVSA actually check during an audit?
DVSA examines your daily walkaround checks, maintenance records, driver hours, driver licenses, vehicle documentation (MOT, tax, insurance), safety policies, operator compliance procedures, and whether you're meeting all O-License undertakings. We monitor all of these areas continuously.
How often does DVSA audit restricted operators?
There's no set schedule - DVSA can show up anytime, especially if triggered by prohibitions, complaints, or spot checks. The best approach is to always be audit-ready, which is exactly what our monitoring ensures.

Getting Started

I'm completely new to O-Licenses. Can you help?
Absolutely. We handle the entire application process for new O-Licenses (£1,495) or license variations (£895). We'll guide you through operating centre requirements, financial standing, professional competence, and all documentation. Success guaranteed or full refund.
I have an O-License but my compliance is a mess. What do I do?
Start with our Compliance Rescue Package (£495). We'll audit everything, organize your records, create all missing documentation, and get you DVSA-ready in 7 days. Then move to ongoing monitoring (from £249/month) to stay compliant going forward.
Can I speak to someone before signing up?
Of course! Email us at info@fleetguardcompliance.co.uk or call 07502 024607. We're happy to answer questions, review your specific situation, and recommend the best approach. No pressure, no sales pitch - just honest advice about protecting your license.
